| Description: | PRIMARY DUTY
Performs advanced engineering and design work using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Has responsibility for design integrity and cost, scheduling and manufacturability requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Use Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for design and detailing for proprietary equipment as well as components of process plants, including tanks, structural steel, platforms, stairs, ladders, etc
Work with process engineers, structural engineers, and project managers to optimize plant layout and equipment design based on specific customers site requirements.
Develop early General Arrangement (GA) drawings to assist with sales quotes; evolve layout through customer approval and completed design stages.
Create fabrication drawings and/or delegate and oversee drawing creation with other members inside and outside the design group.
Check fit, form, and function of designs and drawings of other designers and drafters.
Utilize common data management software to manage files and collaborate with others.
Interpret P&ID drawings for plant layout and process piping design.
Design and detail structural connections for structural steel design
Create 3D Models of purchased components based on vendor data sheets.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of two years of technical school with 4+ years design experience or equivalent combination. May require specialized work experience related to product line or discipline.
Must be proficient in use of computer aided drafting software (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD), data management software (Autodesk Vault Workgroup) and other common applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience with SolidWorks and/or SmartPlant also beneficial.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
Requires knowledge of applicable codes, table and standard reference material used for design and well as knowledge of machining, fabrication and assembly techniques.
Demonstrated clear verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Field experience helpful.
