Research Engineer II - (Research)

In cooperation with more senior engineers, performs complex analysis, testing and execution of research/development projects. Has responsibility for smaller research/development project management, as well as being a member of a team of scientists, engineers and technicians on larger research projects. May have a specialty in one or more mineral processing technologies, and may be asked to assist sales and marketing efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Defines, schedules, supervises, and executes complex research projects, including laboratory, pilot, and full scale test work ensuring technical accuracy
Writes technical reports on research projects and testing results and makes presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
May supervise and train lower level engineering personnel on assigned projects ensuring adherence to established safety standards and regulations.
Reviews reports of lower level engineering personnel for accuracy of technical content, completeness and format.
Participates in new idea generation and development of concepts for new R&D projects and technologies.
Publishes technical papers, attends professional meetings and makes presentations
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
PhD degree preferably in minerals processing or chemical engineering and
Experience and proficient in the area of flotation research.
Ability to conduct complex bench and pilot tests, perform technical calculations and research data.
Proven organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
Requires excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Must be proficient in the use of the personal computer using company standard software.
Must be a team player and self motivated.
Advanced skills in developing computer models & simulations is preferred
